Our Impact

Apollo’s parent company is a provider of quality medicines to hundreds of people every day. Acting in a responsible and ethical way in all that we do helps to ensure our sustainability – enabling us to provide treatments to those who need them for years to come. At the Group, ESG (environmental, social and governance) is how we care for our patients, our planet and each other.

ESG policies are not only beneficial for addressing immediate environmental and social concerns but are also crucial for the long-term success and sustainability of our (Apollo’s) businesses in the global market. They enable us to manage risks, comply with regulations, improve market position, and contribute positively to global challenges.

Access to medicines for everyone in need

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nearly two billion people lack access to essential medicines, particularly vulnerable populations or people living in under-resourced communities, which means they cannot afford or obtain the treatments they require. Expanding access to medicines is pivotal to Apollo's mission. We contribute to addressing this issue by:

Access to medicines for everyone in need

Providing a diverse range of high-quality medications

Our portfolio includes a wide range of generic medicines that are less expensive than their branded counterparts. Our portfolio includes some of the treatments on the WHO's Essential Medicines List (EML). The EML includes essential medicines that address significant unmet medical needs around the world.

Getting to the most vulnerable people

Our global reach and affordable medicines enable us to address health challenges around the world. Also, we are committed to expanding our product registration in low- and middle-income countries to provide vulnerable people with access to our medicines. We are planning to provide tailored treatment programmes to patients around the world who would not otherwise have access.

Reaching to emergencies and disasters

We use our network of suppliers and partners to meet the needs of affected communities and patients during emergencies and crises. We work with a variety of organisations to make medicines available in emergency situations and to ensure that they are delivered to those most in need.

Studying health issues

To continually develop evidence-based solutions that address unmet healthcare needs, academic collaborations are formed, and research is conducted by our parent firm.

Beyond medicines, we can help patients and caregivers

Apollo’s parent company works with patients to develop programmes that provide medically reviewed peer-to- peer content for people with one or more chronic conditions. We also support carers through initiatives in communities around the world, recognising their role in the health and well-being of patients.

Protecting our planet

Protecting our planet

Our focus is on reducing our impact on the environment. The health of the planet is inextricably linked to the health of its inhabitants.

Climate protection and adaptation

The rise in global temperatures as a result of greenhouse gases, which trap heat in the atmosphere, and pollution is a cause for concern. To work with all partners and encourage them to reduce emissions as much as possible, ambitious targets have been set.

Minimal use of Natural Resources

As a company, we are committed to conserving resources, including water and materials used in the manufacture, packaging, and delivery of our products. Our parent company and partner sites evaluate opportunities to conserve water, and formal water conservation programmes are implemented in areas predicted to experience water stress.

Sewages and waste materials

Our operations aim to prevent and address waste at various stages. Our parent company and partner sites are required to develop and implement initiatives to minimise both hazardous and non-hazardous waste, and to implement reuse and recycling programmes.

Medicines in the Nature

We request our partners to assess and manage the impact of pharmaceutical active ingredients, including antimicrobials, on the environment, while maintaining a balanced approach. Our parent company and partner sites must comply with emissions and effluent regulations, and we require them to take a risk based approach to understanding and controlling the discharge of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in wastewater from their facilities.

Doing business in an ethical way

Conducting business with integrity and transparency is non-negotiable for Apollo. Our emphasis is not only on what we achieve, but also on how we achieve it. We have established, and are constantly improving, a solid foundation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
We promote our products responsibly, in accordance with the laws and standards that govern pharmaceutical product promotion, and we engage in responsible advocacy on healthcare-related public policy issues. This responsibility is taken seriously by us, and we ensure that all personal data is handled responsibly. Our company is dedicated to safeguarding the privacy and security of all individuals whose personal information we handle, including patients if required, customers, employees, and suppliers.

Doing business in an ethical way

Among our efforts to promote ethical behaviour are the following:
  • Apollo’s Code of Conduct – which guides how our employees interact with each other and our business.
  • Speak up culture – empowering employees to report any issues or concerns.
  • Our employee trainings – covering relevant topics to ensure responsible business conduct.
  • Our risk management – for identifying and mitigating potential risks, including in our supply chain.
  • Our solid oversight – including guidance from our Board of Directors, that reinforces compliance and ethics in everything we do.

Keeping a Responsible and Dependable Supply Chain

Keeping a Responsible and Dependable Supply Chain

We collaborate with a diverse set of suppliers to develop, manufacture, and distribute our medicines to distribution partners or patients. Our suppliers provide critical ingredients, stock pharmacy shelves, and perform other critical functions. We work together to reduce waste through packaging redesign and to reduce energy consumption in distribution partners operations and transportation.

In four keyways, we are integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) into our supplier relationships
  • We incorporate ESG into our supplier – selection process to ensure they are aligned with our values, aims and expectations.
  • We also continuously monitor and evaluate – the ESG performance of our key suppliers and help them improve where necessary.
  • In addition, we educate our suppliers on ESG – and Apollo’s expectations while supporting their own sustainability efforts.
  • We participate in industry initiatives – to stay informed of the changing landscape and to foster collaboration between pharmaceutical companies and our supply chain.

We also offer business opportunities to small and diverse organisations that can provide the goods and services we need, and can demonstrate geographic reach and scalability, through the various programmes of our parent company.

Community giving

Contributions to our communities and charities

We are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people in the communities where we live and work. Apollo believes that investing in communities is a responsibility, not a choice.

Community giving

We give back to our communities in the following ways:
  • Active Participations: Through our parent firm, we partner with independent non- profit organizations that promote patient health.
  • Contributions: Our parent firm outlines our standards for making consistent and impactful donations for legitimate scientific, educational, or philanthropic purposes.
